ONGOING PROJECTS

At the Red Blanket Project, our goal is to help, support, and enrich struggling villagers in remote areas of Kenya. From the Chyulu Hills just outside of  Tsavo West National Park, to some of the largest nature reserves in Samburu, we provide assistance to communities impacted by poverty.

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE

IMG_3899.jpg

67 million girls in Africa lack basic sanitary needs. In Kenya alone, approximately 50 percent of school-age girls do not have access to menstrual products. The statistics are even more staggering in the remote villages of Kenya, such as Samburu. This impacts all aspects of these women’s lives: it can negatively impact their education, well-being and health.

In addition to keeping them from going to school, there are serious health risks when women have limited access to these products. Prolonged use of the same tampons or pads and using dirty rags can cause infection, and the risks can be greater if the women or girl has undergone female genital mutilation.

Through this fundraiser, we are raising money to send a set of washable and reusable period-absorbing underwear to each woman, and – in partnership with Afripads – reusable sanitary pads and school girl kits complete with educational materials to help teach young girls about feminine hygiene.

PLAY FOR ALL

IMG_3883.jpg

The benefits of sports and physical activity in a child’s life are well documented.

Our goal is to help promote and encourage children in Africa to be better equipped to perform well in both athletics and school.

Many children play sports without shoes, athletic clothes, protective equipment, or even actual balls.

Your donation will go directly into purchasing these supplies, which include balls, basketball shoes, athletic clothes, and protective equipment. This will then be taken directly to Niarobi and distributed to children in need.

Please click the donate button above if you would like to gift a soccer ball or any other athletic item to a child, village or school.
